IPOR in collaboration with George Washington University and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) conducted the 2019 Malawi Elections Survey. The aim of the study was to assess impact of the 2019 presidential debates on political attitudes and voting behaviour of Malawians.
The study had two phases; the first was carried out in April and second one was done between end of April and early June 2019. The first phase used face-to-face interviews while the second phase comprised of both face-to-face and phone interviews. The study was conducted in ten randomly selected districts namely; Mzimba, Nkhata Bay, Nkhotakota, Dowa, Lilongwe Ntcheu, Blantyre, Mangochi, Mulanje and Chikwawa. The study targeted Malawians who were registered for the 2019 Tripartite Elections. Dr. Boniface Dulani and Mr. Patrick Zindikirani oversaw the data collection for the study.
